Kayin
Earned His ASFA Lure
Coursing Field
Championship ( FCh title) at the age of 16 months old. To be a
Champion it requires 100 points (points determined by the number of
other ridgebacks you defeat). While earning these points you have
to get at least one first placement and 2- second placements.
Kayin did this in only 2.5 months of intermittent coursing. His
winning run was in Indiana over 6 open (novice) ridgebacks and 7 field
Champion ridgebacks. Kayin loves to run and practices on
all the squirrels and chipmunks in my backyard.
Lure coursing is when 3 sighthounds (most often the same breed) run after a lure that is set up on a pully system in a large field. The lure zigs and zags around and the dogs are scored in their speed, endurance, agility, enthusiam, and follow. The judge can tell them apart by the 3 different coat colors they are assigned to wear, either pink, blue or yellow. |
